FESTIVAL OF PINS
CALGARY, AB
SEPTEMBER 3 & 4, 2005

2005 Club pin

Name Tag sample and complimentary pin from the Calgary International Pin Club

While the Calgary club’s international pin show is now over for another year, we are still remembering the wonderful time we WPCC members had while attending it..........The following is Joan’s (webperson) take on a wonderful weekend with our fellow pin collectors.

Ron and I arrived in Calgary early Friday evening. We were able to walk over to the Arcadia Centre and were greeted by many of the pin collectors we have only had contact with my e-mail or phone. It really is nice to put a face to all of those names!

Tables were already neatly arranged and labeled with participants names so we knew exactly where Ron and the Winnipeg Pin Collectors Club were to set up their display. It truly was a hub of activity. Banners were being hung and silent auction gifts arranged.

Thanks to Mark of the Calgary club, we were welcomed and introduced to many of the participants.  Later, Mark walked us back to the hotel and invited us to join him and a few members at a nearby restaurant.

Naturally, pins were the topic of conversation and we were delighted to be in the company of Phil from L.A., Leonard from L.A., Don from Chicago, Wayne from Toronto, Scott from Calgary, and of course, our “guide”, Mark.

Saturday morning called for an early set-up so Ron was ready with his displays, collection and items for sale. Participants were given name tags and a complimentary pin as shown above.

Former Winnipeg-ger, and still a WPCC member, Jim A shared his table with WPCC president, Ron B. That table was in close proximity to the WPCC / Ron K table.

John C was also in attendance for the one day. He never stood in one place long enough for me to get a picture of him - but we can vouch for the fact that he was there!

Bright and early Sunday morning we were back at the community centre eager for another day of trading and pin-club fellowship.

On Sunday evening we were extremely pleased to be invited to join the members for dinner at a nearby restaurant. The food and service were great but even better was the fun we had chatting with each other.  Times like this are very special and we are glad to have made new friends in Calgary.
